Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Brief Submission guidelines

  1. SAGA invites scholars and experts working in English education and learning.
  2. Articles should be original, either empirical research-based or theoretical perspective, should be unpublished and not under review for possible publication in other journals.
  3. The article should be typed in MS Document format, Font 12 Times New Roman, one spaced on A4-paper size.
  4. Research-based articles should be at least 5,000 words, whilst theoretical perspective/conceptual articles should be at least 4,000 words excluding references. Please be noted, however, that whilst SAGA accepts submissions of both research-based articles and conceptual articles, research-based articles are more preferable.
  5. The article should be written in English. The title of the article is written not more than 15 words.
  6. All submission must include max. 250-word abstract and 3-5 keywords.
  7. Full name(s) of the author(s) must be stated, along with his/her/their institution and email address;
  8. All references must follow the APA style strictly.
  9. The use of citation manager (e.g.: Mendeley) is highly encouraged (it may also improve the chance of being accepted for publication)
  10. Article submissions and publications in SAGA are free of charge -- without any article submission charges or article processing charges.

 

Guidelines based on the types of articles

Research-based articles

Each article should be at least 5,000-word long and in form of essay written in English which consists of:

  1. Title (max. 15 words) in bold type and in upper case (capital letters), and in 12-point size of Times New Roman font, 
  2. Author’s name (without academic degree) with an e-mail address and institution’s name.
  3. Abstract in English (max. 250 words) which includes research problems, methods, and results.
  4. Keywords in English (3 - 5 words)
  5. Introduction which includes the background and objectives. The introduction section ends with an emphasis on items to be discussed.
  6. Methods
  7. Findings and Discussion which include findings, and the interpretation of findings.
  8. Conclusion which includes the concluding remarks, research implications, and suggestions.
  9. Reference list, which should appear at the end of the article and includes only literatures actually cited in the manuscripts. The list should adhere to APA style strictly.

Theoretical Perspective/conceptual articles

Each article should be at least 4,000 words written in English and should consist of:

  1. Title (max. 15 words) in bold type and in upper case (capital letters), and in 12-point size of Times New Roman font, 
  2. Author’s name (without academic degree) with an e-mail address and institution’s name.
  3. Abstract in English (max. 250 words)
  4. Keywords in English (3 - 5 words).
  5. Introduction
  6. Discussions (Theory and Theory application)
  7. Conclusion
  8. Reference list, which should appear at the end of the article and includes only literatures actually cited in the manuscripts. The list should adhere to APA style strictly.
